Improve adding SubUnits to Header in Manual Inspection for Lean Production
CompletedCurrently, there are only limited ways to add SubUnits to the UUT in Manual Inspection:
- Add them to the Header Information right at the beginning of the manual inspection sequence
- Manually jump back and forth between the Header and Steps Tab during the sequence
- Add the SubUnit SNRs as "String Value Tests"
This either requires for all SubUnit SNRs to be known and available at the very beginning of the sequence or to instruct the user to jump back to the Header tab at dedictaed steps within the test sequence (there is no such thing as an "instruction" test step). Otherwise, the String Value Test Step can be used but this prevents the usage of proper linking of SubUnits and creating BOMs in the UUT report.
In our opinion, this should be improved to allow assembly sequences in lean production where SNRs of SubUnits are only defined and known at the specific steps of the assembly process and it is still wanted to keep the full assembly in one process and one report.
Thus, we propose to add a "Add SubUnit" step in the MI where the part number can be defined and the operator is asked to enter the SNR. This information is then added to the Header of the report.

Hello Patrick,
In the 21.1 version of WATS we have introduced the "Add sub unit" as a step in Manual inspection. We have also introduced a "Message box" step, which allow the operator to select one value from a multiple-choice list. We hope these features is what you are looking for, and we are looking forward for you to test out this new functionality in the 21.1 release.
