This article will explain how to create and manage Manual Inspection sequences. Sequences used in Manual inspection can be defined and designed in the Production Manager (Control Panel > process & production > Production Manager) (Legacy: MES manager (WATS Control panel -> Manual inspection)). The picture below shows the different sections of the manager. The names of these sections will be used later in this article.
CREATING A MANUAL INSPECTION SEQUENCE
If you plan on having multiple sequences, start by clicking “New Folder” in the action bar. Navigate to the newly created folder in the sequence view, then click “New...” in the action bar. This will create a new sequence, give it a name and press enter. You will now see the different settings for the sequence on the right side of the splitter (Sequence settings).
SEQUENCE SETTINGS
You will now be able to modify the sequence’s settings on the right side of the splitter. The following section explains the different settings and how they affect the sequence execution.
- (Sequence) Name
Click the sequence name to edit. - (Sequence) Description
It’s good practice to provide a sequence description. This field will not affect the sequence in any way. - Global
Enables the sequence to be a sub-sequence within other sequences. In order to use a Global sequence, the sequence must at least be in the “pending” state. - Repair on failed
Determines if repair should be required if the step test should fail.
Required: requires you to submit minimum one failure on the failed step before submitting report
Optional: gives the operator the option to do repair but does not require it to submit report
Never: does not give the operator the option to do repair. - Repair operation
If repair is either required or optional, a repair operation can be specified for all repairs related to this sequence. If repair operation is not specified, the operator can specify a repair operation on the unit while execution the manual inspection sequence. - Add sub units
Determines if subunits can be added to the parent unit under manual inspection execution - Submit UUT/UUR report on first failed test step
If enabled and a step fails, the sequence will lock for user interaction. At this locked state, the operator will be able to add failures to the step if repair on failed is set to anything other than "never". The operator will also be able to submit the report without finishing the unset steps in sequence. When a failed sequence is submitted, the operator will be able to rescan the unit and continue the test sequence from the step prior to the failed step.
RELATIONS GRID
WATS uses a unit -> sequence relationship. This means that the sequence will require a unit relation identifier. You can configure one or multiple unit relations in the sequence relation grid.
- Active:
Specifies if this relation is active or not. Inactive relations are not applied to units. - Relation type:
Specified if sequence should be applied to the units PN, REV, SN or BN - Value:
Specified PN, REV, SN or BN. You can also use * to make the sequence apply to all values of the gived relation type. - Product name:
Name of the product (optional) - Site(s):
Specifies which sites the sequence should apply to (defaults to all) - Test operation(s):
Specifies which test operation should be used on the sequence. If multiple is selected, the operator can choose which sequence to apply when scanning the unit.
SEQUENCE STATES
Sequences can have three different states, which can be set and revoked in the action bar
- Draft
When a sequence is created its state is set to draft. Sequences that are under construction should keep the “draft” status until they are ready to be tested in a test environment. In this state the sequence can be edited both in design and settings. - Pending
Sequence has been designed and is ready for testing in a test environment. In this state the sequence can be moved back to Draft for editing or Released. (you can allow the Operator Interface to execute MI in Draft state in OI config) - Released
Sequence has been thoroughly tested and ready for production. In this state the sequence is locked from design editing. To edit a released sequence, click copy. A new version of the sequence will be created in Draft state. Once you release this sequence, the existing Released sequence will be moved to Revoked state. - Revoked
Revoked sequnces van be deleted. To "reactivate", create a copy.
