National Instruments DIAdem can read data exported from WATS through a WATS Standard Text Format (.wsxf) file converter. The converter is downloadable from ni.com and is unsupported.
Use case
The primary intended use case of the converter is analysis of multi-numeric and waveform data. For example, frequency analysis of acoustical measurements.
Requirements
The user should have basic competencies with NI DIAdem. For advanced use cases knowledge of Visual Basic Scripting in NI DIAdem is beneficial.
How to use
Export the applicable data set as WSXF from WATS by using the Export Wizard.
Make sure that the files are saved in a folder that is auto-indexed by NI DataFinder.
Use the NAVIGATOR in NI DIAdem to locate the relevant files, channel groups or channels, and drag them into the Data Portal.
Please note that the data format in NI DIAdem differs from that of WATS. Header data and other meta data fields are added as either channel properties of text channels in NI DIAdem.
Add a waveform channel to the NI DIAdem VIEW, locate the measurements' X and Y channels in the Data Portal. Note that limits and measurement gates are added as separate channels in the same channel group. Select the X channel first, hold down Ctrl, and select the Y channel(s). Drag and drop the data to the 2 Axis Channel widget.
If you intend to view multiple datasets in combination it is recommended that you add all the measurement data, and only one set of test limits/measurement gates.
Known issues
A known limitation when using measurement gates are that the X channel content is too short. For example, the Y Channel can contain two values of -24 and -28 dB, while the X Channel only specifies one value, 500 Hz. The count of values must match, so you need to manually add another entry of "500" to the X Channel in the Channel Table. See attached picture for an example.
