The WATS Client 5.X is being deprecated and will no longer be maintained.
WHY?
The WATS Client 5.X is based on .NET Framework 3.5, which does not support network communication using TLS 1.2 or newer. Older TLS versions have known security vulnerabilities and weaknesses, and are considered unsecure.
WATS Cloud is hosted in Microsoft Azure, which ended support for older TLS version on 2024-Oct-31, meaning WATS Client 5.X is no longer able to connect to WATS Cloud accounts.
WATS Client 5.X stopped receiving new feature updates in 2020 when WATS Client 6.X was released.
WHAT IS THE IMPACT FOR YOU AS A CUSTOMER?
The WATS Client 5.X will no longer be maintained and has not been able to connect to WATS Cloud accounts since 2024-Oct-31.
Clients set up as "offline clients", where test reports must be copied to an online client to be uploaded, continue to work as offline clients.
HOW SHOULD YOU PREPARE FOR THIS?
Make sure you update all connected systems to the latest WATS Client and OS to maintain a high level of security.
