Disable IIS Logging

By default, Microsoft IIS (Web server) logs every request to the server in a logfile. This may over time create unneccesary large logfiles. These logfiles defaults to the system drive (c:), which in turn can bring the system to halt if it runs out of freespace. This logging functionality can easily be disabled by following this procedure.

IIS 7 (Windows Server 2008 R2)

Start Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager from Administrative tools.
In IIS 7, logging can be disabled for all sites on the server, individual sites, or per application. Expand and select the desired level (server, site or application) in the navigation tree on the left. Double click Logging in the Features View, and click Disable in the Action Pane to the left.
 

IIS 6 (Windows Server 2003 R2)

Start Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager from Administrative tools.
In IIS 6, logging must be disabled per site. Expand Web Sites and locate the site you want to disable logging on. Right click the site and select properties. On the “Web Site” tab, uncheck “Enable logging”, and click OK.
