In addition to submitting report data to WATS, the WATS Client API can be used to read back test data, statuses and KPI's for different purposes. When doing this, keep in mind that the WATS Client is by default restricted to access only from the clients level and down the hierarchy.
WATS Client access token and restrictions
The WATS Client is automatically assigned an access token when registering, and although this access token is not available in the GUI, it has its own permissions set, just like a regular headless token.
This token will automatically have restrictions on reading data up the level-hierarchy, but can access data from the same or below levels.
In the example below, the selected client; DESKTOP-HBR2GBQ can access the clients/data marked in green, as this is on the same or lover level. The clients/data from the red levels are not accessible.
Changing the restrictions
There is currently no way to change this from the user GUI, but if you need this changed we can do this manually. Please fill in this form to request a project for this purpose: https://forms.office.com/r/ky1me82pGw
Another solution, is to make sure your system manager is set up with the stations that will be reading data from WATS reside on a higher level compared to the data you are accessing.
